Introductory remarks

In an E-mail message to Federation President Heidrun Konrad, dated December 27, 2004, I asked for an opportunity to meet fellow editors in Vienna, during the Soroptimist Congress. She answered by e-mail dated December 28: "No, there is not such a meeting planned, but it will be welcome, please do something."

For such a first attempt I decided to keep it simple. In March 2005 I sent an informative e-mail message to the editors of our 27 unions, using the adresses as appearing in the Annuaire 2004-2005, followed by an inquiry in another e-mail. If such an address was not available I sent the emails to the Secretary or the President of the Unions.

Eveline Wunder, the congress secretary, happens to be the Austrian Union's Editor. She provided me with additional addresses of contact persons in Unions, where servers had failed. I made 5 new attempts, resulting in 2 more responses. Upon Evi's suggestion I added Barcelona to the selection, although clubs in Spain have not formed a Union, but I did not get an answer from Spain.

Apart from questions about their bulletin I asked them to send me a copy of a recent issue and asked for their interest for a meeting in Vienna.

Comment:

*Conversion from A5 to A4 still keeps twice overhead and postage.

Some countries are known to have high costs.
